In January 1999, we got the worst snowstorm I've seen since my twelve years living in Buffalo. Rivaling even the infamous Blizzard of '77, this year's snowstorm dumped over 4 feet of snow on us in a few days. Needless to say, after being stuck inside for several weeks, we were aching to stretch our muscles when the temperature one day shot up to 60 degrees. We had to make it quick, though, as the high temperatures promised severe flooding. As most trails threatened to drown Sadie in 4+feet of snow, we headed to Chestnut Ridge Park to walk along the roads. Our walk was, indeed, a quick one, as we saw several feet of snow melt away in less than an hour. The creek became swollen and soon spilled torrents of water over the roads.
